EAGAN, Minn., 02/28/2006, Legal professionals now can access practice-specific information even more quickly, as Thomson West expands Westlaw® Practitioner™ to offer four new practice-specific suites of information. The Westlaw Practitioner suite allows customers to combine practice-area specific information and task-based applications they use most into a convenient, customizable Westlaw interface. Westlaw is the leading online legal research service from Thomson West; Thomson West is a part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC).

Legal professionals working in insurance defense, estate planning, municipal law and patents can now tailor Westlaw specifically to their unique needs. Using a customized interface on Westlaw, these practitioners will find all the information, tools and resources they need to provide better counsel faster and be more confident about the information they use. Westlaw Practitioner packages include topical information resources such as analytical materials, statutes, case law, checklists, forms, public records and court rules, as well as financial calculators and other applications.

In addition to the four new practice areas, Westlaw Practitioner also is customizable for practitioners in immigration (family and business), employment (litigation and transaction), bankruptcy (consumer and business), business organizations, real property, family law and securities.

Westlaw Practitioner is a result of extensive customer feedback and Thomson West’s unique knowledge of legal professionals’ information and practice needs. These additions provide legal professionals with better insights and more value by supporting the workflow of practitioners who practice in specialized fields.

“These four new practice areas available on Westlaw illustrate even further how fine-tuned our customer-focused strategy has become,” said Jean Maess, vice president of Practice Area Marketing and Development for Thomson West. “Thomson West is committed to providing tools, resources and integrated information solutions to support the specific needs of our customers.”
