End-to-End Video Fully Operational on NTT Communications’ IPv6 Network

Oslo, Norway and New York, USA, Feb. 21, 2006 -- TANDBERG® (OSLO: TAA.OL), a global leader in visual communication, today announced that its products have been tested for compatibility and are now fully operational on NTT Communications’ domestic and international IPv6 network. NTT Communications Corporation and TANDBERG tested the compatibility of TANDBERG’s visual communication solution and features, including high-definition video, in a range of network environments over a three-way connection between Japan, Norway, and Hong Kong.

“The collaboration between NTT Communications and TANDBERG is a ground-breaking event for the development of IPv6, which will become the de-facto standard in Next Generation Internet (NGI). It is a clear message to the market that a new internet era has arrived,” said Yosuke Seki, Director, New Business Development Department, Global Business Division, NTT Communications Corporation. “As a global carrier, we will work with industry experts such as TANDBERG to drive the adoption of IPv6 through providing compelling, value-added solutions such as video conferencing.”

Adds Hiroaki Sadata, Director, Service Creation Department, Broadband Business Division, NTT Communications Corporation: “The coming together of ubiquitous computing, IPv6 and TANDBERG’s business quality visual communication confirms that NGI is happening now. We will continue to provide a simple and secure network solution and ubiquitous applications with IPv6.”

“As the global industry leader, supporting IPv6 has always been on our roadmap,” says Håkon Dahle, Chief Technologist, TANDBERG. “And we are proud to partner with NTT Communications to deliver the world’s first video over IPv6 implementation. This will enable better security, improved quality of service, enhanced management and configuration of devices, and extend the capability for 3G services.”

IPv6 is the next-generation internet protocol (IP) that overcomes the address limitations of today’s IP networks. It dramatically increases the number of addresses, security, and communication quality. It is especially effective in minimizing the data transfer delay between networks, which is crucial for applications requiring high-quality network communication, such as video conferencing. By delivering visual communications on IPv6 networks, TANDBERG is enabling organizations to future-proof their long-term investments in communications infrastructure and solutions.
