When King Svein Forkbeard of Denmark comes to Rockhaven Castle in the spring of 1013 Wiley sneaks into the great hall to see England’s enemy up close. There the boy is recognized by two Danes he’s never seen before, and so begins a run for his life that will change his future forever.
When the Danes catch up with him again he is taken to Denmark where he learns his true identity. There he gains two unexpected allies in King Svein’s seventeen year old son, Knute,soon to become King of England, and Svein’s sister-in-law Lady Freya. Together, they and his friends from England are his companions as he probes the mysteries of a lady underground, his own beginnings, a missing parchment, the enigma of God’s foreknowledge and the nature of evil.
