Misogyny remains a woman’s greatest challenge.

The author captures the sentiment, pain and entrapment experienced by women from abuse they received from society, the law, the workplace and even within intimate relationships from 1874 to the present time. “Perfect Clarity” is a novel, consisting of four short stories about five generations of women from the same family line.

Issues in the late Nineteenth Century include lack of employment opportunities, birth control, and discrimination in the law.  The early Twentieth Century found a gradually improving, but a hardly adequate workplace, plus unrestrained domestic violence that could lead to a woman’s death.  Late Twentieth Century explored a new phenomenon: rape on campus.

“Perfect Clarity” provides food for thought as to how a woman should stand up for herself and break free from the inevitable results of this hatred and hostility. The stories of Anna, Gloria, Carin, Kathleen, represent different situations where a woman can experience misogyny, and encourage women to find a way to fight back.

Certainly look for Ruth Rymer’s “Perfect Clarity” to be displayed in 2018 Public Library Association on March 31, 2018.
