In A Cat with Spots, Belford tackles the issue of bullying. Using animals as the characters, she tells the story of Oliver, a cat who finds it hard to belong because he looks different. His unique spots get the attention of his siblings, who relentlessly tease and torment him. Wanting to blend in and be accepted, Oliver visits the Kuddly Kitten Klinic to undergo a transformation. But is it the right choice? Is there another way for him to learn the true meaning of acceptance?
 
Writing each of her books with a particular nonprofit organization in mind, Belford plans to donate a portion of the proceeds of A Cat with Spots to Rise Organization. The author was on a  radio interview with America Tonight last December 5, 2017, to talk about her latest book.
