Unvarnished laughs, love and respect, advice and insight, and a glass of wine: couple entrepreneurs tell all in the new podcast from Blaine & Honey Parker of Slow Burn Marketing.

Featuring interviews with successful entrepreneurial couples, CoupleCo: Working With Your Spouse For Fun & Profit debuted on Valentine’s Day in the iTunes store with a pair of two-part conversations: The first two episodes feature advertising power couple Jim & Robin Whitney of Whitney Advertising in Park City, Utah, and the second two episodes unveil Ryan & Crystal Waugh of Waugh Family Wines in Napa Valley.

“As small-business branding specialists, we’ve worked with a lot of really interesting husband & wife entrepreneurs,” says Honey, Slow Burn Marketing’s President For Life. “And when we’ve spoken from stage to audiences of small-business owners, we frequently meet husband & wife teams who say how much they appreciate our on-stage dynamic as a couple. And since there seems to be a lack of focus on resources for couple-owned businesses, this just seemed like a no-brainer.”

The Whitney interview was the kickoff because, “The Whitneys do what we do, only better,” says Blaine, Slow Burn’s Minister of Covert Ops, “and they’re also a hometown success story. Their story is near and dear to our hearts, and it just had to happen. They also don’t disappoint. People who have neither an interest in being couple entrepreneurs nor being in advertising have really enjoyed listening to them and their 20-year success story.”

The interview with Ryan and Crystal Waugh came at an unusual time: a mere couple of weeks after the Napa fires last fall. Blaine says, “Their winery is in Soda Canyon, and the canyon road up to the winery was a moonscape of devastation. Yet they were gracious and willing to oblige us, they were open for business, and they really bared all.” Honey adds, “One of the things that happens in these interviews is we ask questions they don’t expect, and we often get to watch these couples falling in love all over again. Ryan and Crystal are one of those couples.”

Upcoming interviews include fine art photographers Trish & Jared McMillen of McMillen Gallery in Park City, Whitney Fisher & Nile Zacherle of brewery Mad Fritz in St. Helena, California, Mary & Sam Giveen of Dr. Sam’s Eye Care in New Hampshire, and in a nod to a previous generation, Jerome and Ina Cohn of New Jersey-based Label Makers (retired). “Yes, they’re my folks,” says Honey. “They did it for 30 years without killing each other, and there are lessons to be learned.”
