White House to Name EMC’s Tucci to President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology
Hopkinton, Mass.-Wednesday, March 1, 2006, This week U.S. President George W. Bush announced his intention to appoint Joe Tucci, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), to become a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). EMC is the world leader in information management and storage.
PCAST, which operates under the Office of Science and Technology, advises the President on matters of science and technology policy. Tucci was one of 14 leaders announced this week by the White House that will be appointed to the Council. Council members are distinguished individuals drawn from industry, education, research institutions and other non-governmental organizations.

Tucci has been EMC’s Chairman since January 2006 and President and CEO since January 2001, one year after he joined the company as President and Chief Operating Officer. The report was co-sponsored and signed by presidents of 15 major national business organizations. Tucci is also one of nine chief executives who steer The Technology CEO Council, the IT industry’s leading public policy advocacy organization, and he is a member of the Executive Committee of TechNet, a network of CEOs who work to advance U.S. global leadership in innovation.
