Journal of Materials Science celebrates 40th anniversary

Leading source of communication on engineering materials.

Heidelberg, 3 March 2006, The Journal of Materials Science, published by the scientific publishing house Springer, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. It is one of the leading sources of primary communication for scientists investigating the structure, properties, and processing of all engineering materials Among the most consistently cited journals in the field, it ranked fifth in total citations of all materials science-related journals for 2004 with over 15,150 citations.

Published every two weeks, the Journal of Materials Science contains reviews, full-length papers, and short communications on metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, electrical materials, composite materials, fibers, nanostructured materials, and biological and biomedical materials. Special sections on particular aspects of materials science are now a popular feature of the journal. Available through the electronic information platform SpringerLink (www.springerlink.com), the journal is also part of Online First, the service that lets users access articles well before print publication.
