Lucent Technologies Highlighting IP-Based NGN Voice, Video, Data and Multimedia Communications Solutions at TelecomNext
Also, Janet Davidson, Lucent Chief Strategy Officer, and John Meyer, President of Lucent Worldwide Services, to make keynote addresses
MARCH 14, 2006, MURRAY HILL, N.J. – Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) will feature IP-based next generation solutions, including technology for IP Multimedia TV and personalized lifestyle applications, at the TelecomNext trade show in Las Vegas next week.
In addition, John Meyer, president, Lucent Worldwide Services, will present a keynote address on the opportunities and challenges for delivering new services by transforming networks to the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) architecture, and Janet Davidson, Lucent chief strategy officer, will appear on the ATIS ThinkTank Vendor Panel.
The company also will emphasize industry-leading IMS-based solutions. Among the demonstrations and highlights in Lucent booth 1717:
Lucent Caller ID on TV with Call handling – one of the IPTV Solutions – enabled by Lucent’s IMS service architecture – which integrate telephony, web, TV and mobile capabilities, and can be delivered to subscribers anytime, anywhere. Enabled by the Lucent Service Broker™ (part of Lucent Bell Labs IMS Service Enhancement Layer) this demonstration will show how consumers can not only receive Caller ID messages on TV, but control their calls with options including sending the call to voice mail or canceling the call from their TV screen when the call is completed.
Lucent Active PhoneBook – an application that provides a unified approach and a consistent "look and feel" across the various applications a subscriber might use, such as e-mail contact lists, instant messenger buddy lists and mobile handset phone books. Using this technology, an end-user can conduct multi-party, multimedia communications sessions.
Carrier Grade Ethernet Solutions - Lucent will show how operators can take advantage of carrier grade Ethernet network technologies to create simple, cost-effective, and high-performance networks to support new revenue generating Ethernet services. Among the solutions discussed will be the Metropolis® DMX family of next-generation SONET multiplexers offering integrated Ethernet over SONET capabilities. The DMX family is Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Carrier Ethernet Certified compliant.
Lucent Worldwide Services – Lucent’s services arm will highlight its unmatched network transformation capabilities, including multi-vendor integration, hosted and managed services and security and network operation solutions. Sprint last week announced the launch of Sprint IP Voice Connect service that offers enterprises a hosted VoIP solution. The service is supported by the Lucent hosted VoIP for Enterprise offer through its Global Network Operations Centers. Sprint plans to deploy additional integrated wireline and wireless capabilities during 2006, using the Lucent Converged Voice for Enterprise Solution to provide subscribers all of the features of their office PBX system on their mobile phones.
