4M Wireless completes tests with leading LTE infrastructure vendors
London, United Kingdom, February 12, 2010 - In a further stride towards the commercialization of LTE technology, 4M Wireless has completed a series of interoperability tests with Tier one infrastructure vendors. These tests are part of a sustained initiative by 4M Wireless and its customers to enable LTE base station manufacturers in bringing standards-compliant and interoperable products to market.
The interoperability tests were conducted by product development teams of leading base station vendors based in the Nordic, Asia Pacific and North American regions. 4M Wireless has been actively supporting these teams to achieve early verification of their 3GPP functionality and to ensure that they are well placed to accelerate their lab and field trials programs by testing against a proven peer. The LTE stack functionality provided and tested includes the full set of protocol layers compliant to the latest 3GPP Release 8 specifications. As a result, development teams have been able to harmonize feature implementation and test end-to-end scenarios such as dedicated EPS bearer setup and mobility using both TDD and FDD technologies. 4M Wireless continues to be involved in such test programs which are expected to intensify throughout the course of next year.
As an important contributor within the LTE interoperability ecosystem, 4M Wireless has direct access to the labs of top tier eNodeB vendors. In addition, through this ongoing close interaction with base station developers and operators, 4M Wireless is refining its offering in line with the industry requirements for commercial handset rollouts. As a result, 4M Wireless provides the extensively tested LTE protocol stack functionality needed for field trials and for integration into eventual mass market consumer devices.
“We are pleased to facilitate the rapid development of equipment to support testing of LTE infrastructure. With the forthcoming trials and deployments of LTE, we are seeing interest from equipment vendors to gradually carry out more sophisticated tests,” said Atif Malik, CEO of 4M Wireless. “Through its continuous interoperability activities globally, 4M Wireless is set to be vital in enabling its customers, including those in the silicon sector, to accomplish a steady transition into LTE.”
The 4M Wireless LTE protocol stack is recognized in the industry as the foremost choice to support and accelerate LTE development programs. The company provides access to the latest 3GPP Release 8 functionality for integration with LTE terminal physical layers.
