Samsung’s ML-3561N Laser Printer and New LaserBand2 Media To Be Bundled with Existing VARs

07, Apr, 2006, IRVINE, CA, AND ST. LOUIS, MO - Samsung Electronics America, Inc., and LaserBand are partnering to make patient identification easier than ever for hospitals. The companies have created a special bundled solution for the healthcare market that includes LaserBand’s new LaserBand2® specialty media and the most robust monochrome laser printer in Samsung’s line, the award winning ML-3561N network-ready laser printer. The bundled solution is now available to existing VARs.

LaserBand’s unique media allows a hospital patient identification band to be printed directly on a laser printer while maintaining the integrity of the image throughout a patient’s stay. These wristbands contain crucial information such as name, account numbers, bar codes, and photo. Samsung’s ML-3561N laser printer is a 35 page-per-minute network ready monochrome laser printer. The LaserBand / Samsung solution reduces admissions processing time by printing all patient information using a standard Samsung laser printer. Because it uses regular 8-1/2" x 11" format, or other standard sizes, there is no need for a special paper tray to obtain trouble-free sheet feeding.

"Now that Samsung’s laser printers have broken the 35 ppm barrier, the Healthcare market has taken great interest in our printer line, and in 2006, we are putting a great deal of concentration on how our products can support this particular industry" says Tony Venice, Senior Business Solutions Manager, Samsung Electronics America, Information Technology Division. "LaserBand’s media is revolutionary in that patient I.D. information can be laser printed directly onto the wrist band, clearly and with no danger of any compromise to the quality or lifespan of the image. "

Less risk, More Comfort
LaserBand2® is LaserBand’s newest self-laminating laser bar code wristband that enhances patient comfort, durability, adjustability, security, and scanning performance. LaserBand2® reduces risk of patient identification errors and is available in variations for different patient populations, including Adult, Pediatric, Baby, and Specialty Needs.

The ML-3561N boasts a hearty 150,000-page monthly duty cycle, 400MHz processor and 32MB of memory (expandable to 288MB) up to 1,200(dpi) resolutions for printing razor-sharp text and graphics, 500-sheet paper cassette and a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder able to handle a variety of paper types and sizes from 3" x 5" index cards to legal documents. A two line LCD screen and eight keys make the printer easy to control, and the unique one-touch Toner Save button extends toner capacity up to 40% when used consistently. "LaserBand2® wristband media can survive the rigors of a hospital environment" says Randy Niederer, Director of Strategic Marketing for LaserBand. "We required a partner whose printers are proven to be dependable in mission critical situations and Samsung is the perfect choice. The ML-3561N printers are simple to use, fast, and ultra reliable"
