Cypress to Demonstrate High-Performance Cable Drivers, Equalizers, YLink™ Protection Switch, and HOTLink-On-Demand™ SERDES at NAB 2006

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 20, 2006 - Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY), a world leader in video physical layer devices (PHYs), today introduced two HD/SD multi-format video cable drivers for video distribution amplifiers, production routers and switchers, A/D and D/A converters, and other professional broadcast equipment. The cable drivers partner with Cypress’s HOTLink-On-Demand™ video SERDES, equalizer, and YLinkTM protection switch devices to offer a complete serial digital port solution to professional video equipment designers. Both cable drivers can be used as drop-in replacements for existing devices.

The new CYV15G0101CD Cypress cable driver offers the market’s largest output voltage swing between 500 mV and 1900 mV, allowing customers greater flexibility to fit within the margins of SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) and DVB-ASI specifications. The CYV15G0102CD HD/SD cable driver is available with dual non-inverting outputs, which allow customers to easily utilize both available cable driver outputs for non-inverting DVB-ASI signals without adding external devices.

"By adding our new HD/SD multi-format video cable driver to our HOTLink-On-Demand family of video SERDES, our video equalizers, and our YLink protection switch, Cypress can now offer professional video equipment designers a complete physical layer portfolio along with the excellent customer support that has been our hallmark" said Erin Kettwig, product manager for Cypress physical layer devices. "All of Cypress’s video interface products simplify the design process for our customers, resulting in significant savings on overall BOM costs and design cycle time"

Cypress will demonstrate the entire video interface, including the HOTLink-On-Demand family of video SERDES, multi-format equalizers, cable drivers, and YLink port protection switches in booth C10148 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2006 Conference to be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada from April 24 through April 27. Cypress’s YLink is the industry’s first video link protection switch, and provides cost-effective redundancy throughout video networks. Cypress’s video equalizers deliver unmatched distance equalization and power consumption savings for professional video systems.
