New Workflow Solutions for Package Printers Anchor Kodak’s Presence at INFO*FLEX 2006
Kodak experts to share expertise on color management and brand protection
Rochester, NY, April 21 -- Kodak will showcase powerful new workflow tools and enhancements for package printers in booth 515 at the FFTA Annual Forum and INFO*FLEX Exhibition. Configured specifically for package printers, the KODAK PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow system helps users improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance print quality while handling the most complex packaging jobs.
Scheduled for April 30–May 3 in Louisville, Ky., FFTA’s Annual Forum and INFO*FLEX Exhibition is the flexographic industry’s most widely anticipated and highly attended annual gathering of buyers, sellers, educators, students and professional flexographers representing all aspects of the industry.
“The PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow system is designed with the specific needs of the package printer in mind,” said Vic Stalam, General Manager, Packaging, Flexo Plates and Thermal Proofing Media, Prepress Consumables, Kodak. “Packaging printers, converters and trade shops face many challenges, from tight deadlines to intricate package designs. The PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow system helps users navigate these challenges and exceed their customers’ expectations.”
The PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow system incorporates three important new features: two new ADOBE ACROBAT plug-ins that automate the management of correction cycles, and Rules Based Automation that allows users to automate every action and event in the workflow.
PDF Compare and PDF Merge
Awarded a 2005 GATF InterTech Technology Award for innovation and the 2006 Technology Innovator of the Year Award from the Flexographic Prepress Platemakers Association, PDF Compare and PDF Merge software provide an automated, reliable and cost effective way to manage correction cycles in a prepress workflow. PDF Compare software is a quality control tool that provides the ability to analyze two PDF files and identify the differences between them. PDF Merge software is a prepress production tool that allows the operator to extract all of the prior work that was done on the plate ready file (traps, screening assignment, geometry, overprint settings, etc.) and merge all of those elements into a new revised production file.
Rules Based Automation
With the new Rules Based Automation feature, the PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow management system dramatically extends the scope and power of process automation within the workflow. Operators automate tasks using rules that intelligently execute processing at the job level, customer level or system wide. Rules can initiate any function that the PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow management system can perform, and can be custom scripted via the integrated VB.NET engine to enable interactions with other company databases and systems.
This sophisticated new form of automation enables printers to eliminate manual steps in the print process that were previously difficult to automate in conventional systems. The PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow system’s event driven model for automation is unique in the industry, allowing a printer to build flexible and intelligent rules that can respond to changes and exceptions.
