Accenture Offering Allows Launch of Converged Wireless and Wireline Services

NEW YORK and SAN JOSE, Calif.—April 24, 2006—Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has integrated BEA Systems (NASDAQ: BEAS) enterprise and communications infrastructure software as a core component of the Accenture Service Delivery Platform (SDP). A cornerstone offering within Accenture Communications Solutions, the Accenture SDP is designed to help carriers rapidly launch converged voice and multimedia services across all types of wireless and fixed line networks.

The Accenture Service Delivery Platform enabled by BEA software, which is currently being used by multiple service providers around the world, is designed to provide carriers the ability to integrate content-based services from a variety of sources and heterogeneous technologies. Incorporating the BEA WebLogic Communications Platform™ and BEA WebLogic Platform™ products, the SDP can help support innovative, next-generation services such IPTV, Mobile Content Delivery, VoIP/converged communications, instant messaging, and third-party content management. Content is delivered via the standards-based SDP that supports IMS, a layer of software intelligence that is designed to allow collaborative development of rich media services.

“Following a period of consolidation and cost-cutting, communications service providers are focusing on growth and innovation in their quest for high performance,” said Angelo Morelli, a partner in Accenture’s Communications & High Tech operating group. “Companies that can rapidly create and deliver new value-added services can generate top-line revenue growth, increase market share and improve customer satisfaction and retention. Accenture Communications Solutions featuring the Service Delivery Platform, enabled by BEA software, are designed so that they can help drive this type of transformation.”

“Accenture brings years of invaluable communications experience and industry insight to bear and we are pleased to be working with them on this effort,” said Mike McHugh, vice president and general manager, BEA WebLogic Communications Platform, BEA Systems. “Integration into the Accenture Service Delivery Platform can place the BEA WebLogic Communications Platform technology at the heart of the move by carriers to open up their wireline and wireless networks to a new community of developers and IMS application providers that can help provide them with the rich, revenue generating services they desire.”

The new SDP is designed to enable a collaborative approach to product development, helping to enable third-party or internal developers to create new, valued-added services faster, more consistently and with less expense. Additionally, it is designed to help communications and media companies reduce the time it takes to roll out rich new converged voice & multimedia services. Also, thanks to the pre-integration of all components in the Accenture Communications Solutions suite, the platform is designed so that it can become operational in less then three months.
