Global Apparel Manufacturer Accelerates Supply-Chain Management with Juniper Networks
Hong Kong-based Esquel Benefits from Sweeping Improvements Across Distributed Enterprise Network
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 9, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that the Esquel Group, one of the world’s top apparel manufacturers for major retail brands, has deployed the Juniper Networks wide-area network (WAN) application acceleration platforms to improve the efficiency of their distributed business infrastructure.
"Additional benefits from the deployment of the Juniper platforms are improving more than just network application response times and quality of latency-sensitive traffic" said C.F. Shum, IT manager for the Esquel Group. "Our original project to merely upgrade bandwidth is now improving many other areas of our business infrastructure"
Before deploying the WXTM application acceleration platforms, insufficient bandwidth constrained Esquel’s business productivity. Even though network traffic, email and database access were sluggish, the main impetus for Esquel to seek a solution was to provision additional bandwidth for the company’s electronic supply chain management system.
"The expensive solution was to simply upgrade our existing frame relay links" said Shum. "We decided to explore alternatives and came across the Juniper Networks WX platform. More than any other solution in the market, it delivered the best performance without compromising manageability or reliability. The first trials were between our Hong Kong headquarters and our Gao Ming factory in the People’s Republic of China. We were so impressed by the results; the WX platform is now accelerating all our links, including those to our sites in Malaysia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and Vietnam"
The Juniper Networks WX platforms provide distributed enterprises with a cost-effective solution for accelerating applications over the WAN. Based on the unique WX Framework, which integrates all the elements required to optimize application performance over wide-area links, the WX platforms help businesses improve application response times, maximize WAN investments, and control and prioritize key applications. The platforms eliminate redundant transmissions, accelerate TCP and application-specific protocols, prioritize and allocate bandwidth access, and ensure high availability at sites with multiple WAN links.
"Asia Pacific enterprises are often distributed to leverage unique geographical advantages" said Eric Yu, Juniper Networks’ vice president for Greater China. "The Esquel group’s experience is a good example of how widely distributed organizations use our acceleration technology to speed their mission-critical applications and ease administrative and cost burdens. Beyond simply minimizing bandwidth costs, our platforms enable companies to focus on core competencies, improve productivity and maximize infrastructure investments"
