Undeclared Substances Cause Recall of Dietary Supplements

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a voluntary nationwide recall has been administered by Evol Nutrition of all lots of two dietary supplements: Mojo Nights and Mojo Nights for Her.

The FDA tested the products, which were manufactured by Mojo Health, and their results revealed undeclared tadalafil and sidenafil in Mojo Nights. Evol Nutrition has recalled Mojo Nights for Her as a precautionary measure, although these substances were not detected in that product.

Tadalafil and sildenafil are active ingredients that the FDA has approved for Erectile Dysfunction, and therefore Mojo Nights is an unapproved substance. The undeclared ingredients have the potential to interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, which could result in dangerously low blood pressure levels.

The affected supplements were distributed across the U.S. between July 2011 and July 2012 to retail stores and for internet sales. The recalled Mojo Nights and Mojo Nights for Her products have UPC codes of 7 18122 11983 7 and  7 18122 12133 5 respectively.

To date there have been no reported illnesses linked to these products. However, the FDA is advising consumers who have purchased these products to stop usage or return them for a refund.
