Artist Condemns Warmongering With His Art: “Words Should Count – Consequences Ahead”

WEBWIRE

NEW YORK, NY 12 September 2013/-- Simon Raab, artist from Santa Barbara, uses his art to condemn warmongering by the current and past US administrations. Simon Raab produced a visual anti-war statement in his medium he calls Parleau.

Parleau is created using multiple layers of translucent polymers on metal, which is then sculpted into an abstract relief. Raab believes that the most important and consequential purpose of art is to question and examine social issues.

“We fight terrorists and fascists but we are becoming them. We kill suspected terrorists, US citizens and innocents on foreign lands using drones and secret orders. We spy on our own people. We use the power of government to intimidate political activism. We have lost an objective analytical press. We have spent indiscriminately and have let the rich and powerful moneymen pillage our economy without consequence. Now we talk war without UN resolutions, without clear facts, and without congressional approval. What has become of us?” - Simon Raab

The Parleau “Words Should Count” is part of the exhibition “Political Climate Change” at the E Gallery in Brooklyn, NY from September 13 to October 27, 2013.
