Samsung Wins Top Honor by the Global Technology Distribution Council
Eighth-annual U.S. awards spotlight strong regional sales growth over the past year through distribution partners
Ridgefield Park, New Jersey – Samsung Electronics America Inc. today announced that it has won top honors by the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) for strong year over year growth. The GTDC is an industry consortium representing leading technology distributors. Samsung won the U.S. Gold “Rising Star” Award for achieving exceptional regional sales growth over the past year through distribution partners.
“It’s an honor to see Samsung win the Global Technology Distribution Council’s top award for year over year growth,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “This achievement is a testament to the importance we place on the enterprise in bringing products to market with the support of our distribution partners. Samsung and our IT distributors share a common goal of delivering technology that solves real business challenges every day.”
This is the first year that Samsung has won the prestigious U.S. Gold “Rising Star” Award from the GTDC and was among only 12 U.S. winners chosen from hundreds of manufacturers and publishers who rely on distributors to meet the product and service requirements of solution providers nationwide. Samsung won the U.S. Gold Rising Star Award in the category for Hardware revenue of $500 million or more.
Samsung was recognized at the GTDC Summit award ceremony last week at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach, Calif. The GTDC hosts annual events for the vendor channel community and this year’s theme was focused on “Mobilizing in New Direction,” and was attended by some of the largest distributors, channel executives and top analysts.
The U.S. Gold Rising Star Award was based on NPD Group’s Distribution Track reporting that indicated that Samsung achieved the highest percentage of year over year growth. The Distribution Track aggregates actual distributor sell-through data to facilitate insight into tech channel sales and pricing trends. This year’s U.S. GTDC Rising Star awards included the following revenue categories:
Hardware revenue of $500 million or more
Hardware revenue of $100 - $500 million
Hardware revenue of $25 million - $100 million
Software revenue of at least $20 million
