Seven Novant Health hospitals earn prestigious Magnet® designation
Novant Health is celebrating a major achievement in nursing care that demonstrates the quality and compassionate care that patients have come to expect. Seven hospitals have achieved Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC):
- Novant Health Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital
- Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center
- Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center
- Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center
- Novant Health Matthews Medical Center
- Novant Health Medical Park Hospital
- Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
The Magnet Recognition Program® serves as the national gold standard requiring excellence in three key areas: nursing satisfaction, patient satisfaction and clinical performance. Nationally, about 400 healthcare organizations have earned Magnet status and only 23 organizations in North Carolina are among this select group.
“To have five facilities redesignated and two facilities – Kernersville Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital – earn Magnet status for the first time is a tremendous achievement,” said Carl Armato, president and CEO, Novant Health. “We want patients to know that when they come to our hospitals, they’ll be treated by a team of professional and compassionate nurses who go above and beyond in caring for their patients.”
Hospitals that earn Magnet status tend to attract and retain the most qualified nurses, have lower rates of nursing staff turnover, lower rates of patient falls, and greater availability of help for patients; all of which contribute to better patient safety. Novant Health is committed to making the healthcare experience simpler, more convenient and more affordable. We’re creating an environment in which our nurses work at the top of their license in order to transform care at the bedside. By enabling patients to focus on getting better and staying healthy, nurses are helping to fulfill the Novant Health promise to make healthcare remarkable.
“This recognition speaks to the dedication of our nurses, physicians and staff,” said Sallye Liner, RN, chief clinical officer, Novant Health. “Achieving this designation is the result of years of preparation, a desire to truly help people and a commitment to providing remarkable care.”
To earn Magnet status, the hospitals provided evidence of patient care and outcomes, and underwent a rigorous review that included an on-site visit. The goals of the Magnet Recognition Program are to promote quality in a setting that supports professional practice, to identify excellence in the delivery of nursing services to patients, and to encourage “best practices” in nursing services.
