Conspiracy and Racism Told by Denis Gray in His New Work of Fiction

Author Denis Gray took a bold move in writing a novel that tackles conspiracy and racism.

A Long Stretch of Blue revolves around the life of Arfel Booker, a blues musician who thinks he was framed for the murder of a white man. He then flees the South and finds a safe place in the northern town where he meets Lemontree Johnson, also a blues musician. With the help of Lemontree, he’s given a chance to restore his old life. However, despite this speck of hope, the murder continues to haunt him as a bounty hunter went north to persecute him.

The story is filled with musical inspiration as well. Amazon reviewer Kirpal Gordon said, “It’s clear that he understands the healing power of a song and brings to the blues a deep appreciation of the form.”  Gordon adds that together with plot twists and poignant prose, the book will reveal the struggles of everyday folks caught up in the unjust beast of racial biases.
