A Secularist Revolution at Decatur Book Festival

Stanley Yokell’s book, 2084 The Secularist Revolution: How Technology Changed the World, made an appearance at the 10th AJC Decatur Book Festival. The event was held on September 2–4, 2016, at 101 E. Court Square, Decatur, Georgia.

The book examines the theory of creation in different perspectives, from religious mythology to metaphysics. Religion provides a powerful means to manipulate—not only individuals, but also civilizations. Religion oftentimes becomes politics, which is why an understanding of history and theology is essential to our lives.

“I wrote [the book] after much thinking about the intertwined roles of religious and political power, metaphysical ponderings about creation, a creator, the behavior of species, and the roots of religion,” the author says.

2084 The Secularist Revolution may sound like an attempt to sway people from their religious affiliations, but in truth, it investigates what will happen if devices that will instantaneously translate speech and text from any language to the user’s native tongue are widely available.
