Author Creates a Color-Sensitivity Manual for Children and Adults

Because of human suffering caused by differences in color, Samuels decided to make a series of color-sensitivity training manuals. Think Folks Are “Too Black?” Think Again! is a full-color, compact book that explores the color diversity of human beings. It also focuses on the way people perceive skin color.

Moreover, the book contains a workbook and reflection section that aims to help readers expand their understanding and engage in meaningful discussion about the topic of color.

“I hope readers will come to see that black individuals are just black, and are a part of the great biodiversity of colors on Earth. So, they are neither less than nor more than anyone else,” the author says.

About the Author

Lupita Samuels was born in Costa Rica, but has lived in the United States for almost fifty years. She has taught in the New York City public school system for over twenty years, and has also taught Bible-based courses at the Spirit Life School at the Fordham Manor Church in the Bronx. Samuels earned her bachelor’s degree from New York University and her master’s degree from Bank Street College of Education. She and her husband have two sons and five grandchildren. This is her first book.
