One becomes wiser and stronger after conquering hardships. This is especially true for author Edgar Brown, who shares his story of overcoming difficulties in his book, Of Raincrows and Ivy Leaves, which he wrote with his wife, Judith.

Being born during the Great Depression, Edgar definitely did not have an easy start. Despite the economic downfall staining his childhood, he did not lose his optimistic outlook on life. He reminisces about the happy memories during the difficult period, as well as the time when he was still at primary and secondary school. He also speaks about his need to help disadvantaged and handicapped children when he was a young man. His tenure as a pilot during the Second World War was brought up as well.

Edgar also recalled his return to civilian life following the war. Despite being free from conflict, he had his own demons to face, such as divorce. He wrote his memoir in the hopes of leaving something that his children and descendants would find valuable in the future.

About the Author

Author Edgar Brown served in the Second World War. After the war ended, he then worked as a career development counselor. He was also a teacher, church music director, and a teacher. His wife, Judith, was also an educator. The couple met while working in the same school.
