The New York based MoMA PS1 has announced details for twelve new VW Sunday Sessions which will take place in 2018. The acclaimed event format is of great importance for contemporary artists and the American art scene. From January until April 2018, the new sessions will provide the audience with manifold opportunities to actively engage with innovative expressions of modern art.

As a partner for MoMA and MoMA PS1 since 2011, the Volkswagen Group of America supports the seventh series of VW Sunday Sessions, a pioneering art programme which had been developed and introduced with the help of the Group. Offering a new and dedicated event space for the programme, the Volkswagen Group of America also backed the installation of the VW Performance Dome in the courtyard of MoMA PS1 in the Queens District of New York City.

Starting in early 2018, the Sunday Sessions will further elevate the idea of presenting various forms of current creative works along with discourses between the public and artists. Through the new series of sessions visitors will experience dance performances, concerts with young talents as well as a science-fiction opera. Interactive formats will also allow for debates about social developments and artistic practices.

Over 65,000 people have joined the VW Sunday Sessions since the introduction in 2012. Throughout the years, the sessions have turned into a vital element of the programme at MoMA PS1. The exhibition and exploration space is an internationally renowned platform for cutting-edge expressions of art and represents one of the oldest and largest nonprofit contemporary art institutions in the United States. Since 2000, PS1 is part of MoMA, the world’s leading museum for Modern Art.

Volkswagen Group of America supports MoMA PS1 and the VW Sunday Sessions in the frame of the Volkswagen Group’s global cultural engagement. Underlining the Group’s corporate responsibility, it is the link for a wide range of cultural activities and collaborations which encourage people to explore the power of creativity.
