BNP Paribas announces new appointments in its Corporate and Institutional Banking division in EMEA

-Yannick Jung, member of CIB Executive Committee, is appointed Head of Global Banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

-George Holst joins BNP Paribas as Vice Chairman of the Corporate Executive Sponsorship Board.

-Eirik Winter joins BNP Paribas as CEO for BNP Paribas Group Nordic Region and Head of CIB Nordics as of 3April 2018.

Yannick Jung, formerly Head of Corporate Clients Financing and Advisory EMEA, has been promoted to Head of Global Banking EMEA, on the 1st of December 2017. In his new role, he is responsible for Global Banking, which now regroups all of CIB’s coverage, financing & advisory and transaction banking capabilities for all its corporate clients, together with the supervision of CIB’s country management, in the EMEA region. He is based in Paris and reports to Yann Gérardin, Head of CIB.

At a time when the Group’s corporate client base is steadily growing, in line with CIB’s strategy, Yannick Jung’s main objective is to accelerate the development of the corporate franchise in EMEA.  

George Holst has been appointed, as of the 2nd of January 2018, Vice Chairman of the Corporate Executive Sponsorship Board EMEA, chaired by Yannick Jung. He reports to and works closely with Yannick Jung to further enhance C-suite relationships with corporate clients and strengthen the framework to provide clients with a seamless access to the Group’s entire range of expertise and services.  

George Holst joins from J.P. Morgan where he was most recently Global Head of Retail Investment Banking. George Holst brings more than 20 years of experience in global investment banking. He is a member of the Global Banking EMEA Board and is based in Paris. 

Eirik Winter has been appointed CEO for BNP Paribas Group Nordic Region as well as Head of CIB Nordics. He starts on the 3rd of April 2018 and will report to Yannick Jung.  He will be a member of the Global Banking EMEA Board.

Eirik Winter brings over 20 years’ experience and a strong network of decision makers in the region, which will be key in the context of BNP Paribas’ high ambition to grow in the Nordic Region, and further drive the expansion of the Group’s corporate client base. He will also focus on developing relationships with key players from the tech and digital sector and will reinforce the bank’s presence in local communities through CSR and local initiatives. Eirik Winter joins from Citigroup where he was Chairman for the Nordic Region and Head of Investment banking.

The UK set-up has also recently been reinforced with the appointment of Matthew Ponsonbyas Head of Global Banking in the UK who joined in October 2017 after having notably worked for Barclays. Matthew Ponsonby reports to Yannick Jung, Head of Global Banking EMEA and Anne-Marie Verstraeten, UK Country Head, BNP Paribas Group. He is a member of the Global Banking EMEA Board.

Biographies

Yannick Jung

Yannick joined BNP Paribas in 1997, in Paris, where he worked in Structured Finance and in the Media & Telecoms. He then moved to Japan in 2007 where he was Manager of the Tokyo Branch for 5 years. Yannick returned to Paris in 2012 where he held various positions including Head of Coverage for Corporates in EMEA and Head of Corporate Clients Financing & Advisory EMEA.

George Holst

George Holst joins from J.P. Morgan where he was most recently Global Head of Retail Investment Banking. He joined J.P. Morgan in 2000 where he held various roles in Industry Coverage and M&A. Prior to 2000, he worked at ING Barings and Credit National. George brings more than 20 years of experience in global investment banking.  He has worked on a range of transactions including: the sales of Zabka, Pronovias, Celesio, US Foods and Corporate Express. He has also worked on the IPOs of SMCP, GrandVision, Elior, and Pandora, as well as the Ahold-Delhaize merger, the purchase by Shandong Ruyi of SMCP, the take-private of Alliance Boots and the acquisition of Gucci by PPR. George Holst is a Dutch, married with 3 children.

Eirik Winter

Eirik Winter joins from Citigroup where he was most recently the Chairman for the Nordic region as well as Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking, based in Stockholm since 2012. He joined Citi through Salomon Brothers in 1996 and has held a number of positions throughout his career including Head of DCM, Syndicate and Fixed Income Capital Markets Products for EMEA, located in London. Eirik Winter was involved in many of the largest capital markets, M&A and financing transactions in EMEA and the Nordic region. Prior to joining Citi, he worked at J.P. Morgan Chase in Stockholm and London.  He is a keen, cyclist, skier and sailor, and an Officer in the Army reserve forces. He studied at Uppsala University in Sweden and Stanford University in the U.S.
