Adventure loving author and retired federal employee explored boat plants, plant medicine practices, and Kahunas into another fun-filled and inspiring adventure of Akoni as he was torn between two paths to lead his life.
“Kahuna Kid: Happy in Hawaii” stresses on Akoni’s adventure of planning, training, and preparing to be happy for his own future.
Having spent nearly 40 years of federal employment, Robert Temple Frost has put his interest of boat plants, plant medicine practices and Kahunas into developing the exciting adventures of Akoni in Maui, Hawaii while also internalizing the values of motivation and commitment of a young Hawaiian boy when it comes to realizing his dreams. Interestingly, Akoni has wanted to be a Kahuna which means an expert and a healer. Should Akoni follow his father and get a college degree or should he pursue to become a respected Kahuna to continue the legacy of his ancestry from the eighteenth century? Akoni represents in the book how any boy of his age who has been wondering what to do after he graduates from high school should be motivated to do.
“Kahuna Kid: Happy in Hawaii” stresses on Akoni’s adventure of “planning, training, and preparing to be happy for his own future”. A rich knowledge of Kahuna’s and plant medicine practices and paddle boarding are in store for this sequel as well as helpful and inspiring thoughts to read in making decisions for the future. Such a great read for middle-graders.
