“People don’t realize the frequency and severity of falls and how easily they can be prevented,” said Mazy. “The iStand Foundation is focused on educating both veterans and seniors, as well as their caregivers, about ways to prevent falls – including exercise, using well designed smart canes and general overall health. I am excited to further my commitment to seniors for generations to come by delivering these much-needed services to our surrounding communities, and decreasing risk of injury.

WhatBox Inc., a consumer product design company and parent company of iStand smart walking canes, announced today the formation of the iStand Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization, by its Founder and CEO, Mazy Holiday. The iStand Foundation’s mission is to reduce senior falls by providing comprehensive programs including evidence-based exercise programs, eye exams, medication reviews, and education in household safety. iStand will also provide free iStand walking canes to veterans and seniors in need nationwide.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one third of people 65 and older fall each year and older adults die every 29 minutes from fall-related injuries. By 2030, the CDC projects that falls will account for 12 million injuries among older adults. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reported that as of March 2015, falls represented the number one category of root cause analyses submitted to the NCPS Patient Safety Information System, an internal, confidential, non-punitive reporting system.

“People don’t realize the frequency and severity of falls and how easily they can be prevented,” said Mazy. “The iStand Foundation is focused on educating both veterans and seniors, as well as their caregivers, about ways to prevent falls – including exercise, using well designed smart canes and general overall health. I am excited to further my commitment to seniors for generations to come by delivering these much-needed services to our surrounding communities, and decreasing the risk of injuries.”

Holiday is also the creator of the iStand Falls Prevention® Exercise Program on The iStandFoundation.org which offers proven, low-impact programs delivered via online streaming at no cost. Other Board members include Morgan Richardson, secretary and Tamara Walker, treasurer. Richardson is a personal trainer who delivers iStandFit programs, and an advocate for seniors.
