Author Tyler Oberheu flies to Mexico to publicize his freshly reworked book
“Twist and Shout” takes in some of the author’s life events that were untold before.
We live in a pretty wonderful universe to just go ahead and kill yourself.
Author Tyler Oberheu will visit the dazzling Guadalajara in Mexico in the latter part of 2019 to publicize his freshly reworked book “Twist and Shout: An Awkward Life with Tourette’s” (ReadersMagnet; 2019). This west-central Mexican city with rich history and tradition hosts yet another important book fair in the Latino world, where Oberheu intends to publicize his book.
The Guadalajara International Book Fair is the largest book fair of the Americas and the most significant annual cultural event of its kind in the Spanish-speaking realm. Better known as Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), this gathering of professionals in the publishing industry and the reading public from all over the world was founded in 1987. Yet since 1993, the FIL has invited a country or region to become the guest of honor, giving each a chance to showcase its best cultural and literary heritage. This year’s guest of honor is India.
FIL is also an exceedingly considerable opportunity for Oberheu to showcase his book! “Twist and Shout” tells his struggles of Tourette’s syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by tics which are repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations. The condition becomes evident in early childhood or adolescence. In Oberheu’s case, he was hit by Tourette’s when he was seventeen.
Despite being beset by Tourette’s, Oberheu gains plenty of perceptions and enlightenment in life. One of those is learning not to worry so much. That is very apparent in his attitude and in his manner of writing. He is also a humorous author, and readers will find his work very delightful and amusing. At the onset of the book, readers will find a cracking joke that will definitely be tough to put down.
Intrigued with more of Oberheu’s memoir? Follow him to Guadalajara, Mexico on November 30, 2019 to December 4, 2019 at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and catch more witty lines of the author. Be sure to check it out!
“Twist and Shout: An Awkward Life with Tourette’s” is now available in bookstores across the country and through online sellers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and eBay.

About the Author
Tyler L. Oberheu was diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at age 17. At age 20, he sat and wrote this book every day during the summer of 2014 when he should have been working, but the constant yelling and twitching kind of made that hard. In 2017 he underwent Deep Brain Stimulation to treat his Tourette’s, and today he works within the Special Education Department at a local elementary school.
