“Spanish Angst’s” Author Linda Luisa Varela Tychsen Unveils the Realities of Love and Sex in Her New Book: “The Torch Bearer’s Exorcism”

Typical love stories and movies always show a person meeting the love of his life and the latter reciprocating such invariable love. Not in Linda Luisa Varela Tychsen’s second book entitled “The Torch Bearer’s Exorcism.” From the author of “Spanish Angst,” Tychsen reveals a coming-of-age story that portrays the bittersweet reality of the world.

Set in the late 1980s, private and guarded Cherie, who is a literature student, enters college carrying with her a doubtful heart. But everything changed when she met David, a theatre actor student— to which she describes as ‘a guy that seemed to be glowing warm, bright gold.’ He portrayed all that she could wish for an ideal man—and yes, she is madly in love with him. But does he have the same heart like hers? She was sure he did when they shared a sweet kiss one night under the shade of trees. However, does a drunken kiss signify true love?

In this another ‘harrowing tale,’ as described by the Kirkus Review, Linda Luisa Varela Tychsen tells us the love story of Cherie and David—how their love and passion-fueled each other’s torches and how it caused their own upheaval. With the inclusion of the author’s photographs, drawings, and music lyrics, it revels the irony of heartbreaking but heart mending and romantic but realistic work of art.

This modern fiction shows its readers what lies behind the closed doors of what we ideally perceive as true love. It provides lessons, especially for the younger generations, to guard one’s heart.

About the Author

Linda Luisa Varela Tychsen, also known as LLVT, is a Spanish-citizen born of a Danish mother in Chicago, Illinois. She is a Marketing Manager, waitress, Customer Service Agent, Campaign Support Volunteer, Lawyer, and Consultant, but famously known as a writer. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English degree from the University of Illinois, a Law degree from NIU, and MBA from IEDE Madrid.

Her verbal style, which is described as much as her penchant for English comedy was a product of her Spanish-English bilingualism. Because of her linguistic capabilities, she attained a merit-based scholarship in her sixth grade.

Tychsen’s first published work in 2007 is a high concept comedy novel entitled “Spanish Angst,” which is a heavily personal work as it drew on her personal experiences of living and working in Madrid.
