CTO.ai Raises $7.5m from Slack Fund and Tiger Global to Deliver ‘DevOps Shortcuts’ That Help Engineers Perform Tasks 10x Faster
Ops Platform launches out of limited beta to give developers a framework to discover, build and share workflows that streamline operational efficiencies at scale with easy integration of popular services like AWS, Kubernetes, GitHub and Slack
Today, CTO.ai, a platform for rapidly scaling DevOps teams, is announcing $7.5M USD in seed funding from Tiger Global, and Slack Fund, along with participation from Yaletown Partners, Pallasite Ventures, Panache Ventures and Jonathan Bixby. The round coincides with the community beta of The Ops Platform, a registry of shortcuts that allows developer teams to streamline tasks and increase productivity 10x. The new funding will be used to expand their current offerings for enterprise customers and hire key strategic roles in engineering, product, marketing, and sales.
Faced with an increasing pace of innovation, access to technical talent is now a greater threat to businesses than access to capital -- with over 1 million tech jobs unfilled by 2020 in the US alone. Compounding this issue is more than $300B expected in lost developer productivity every year, much of which is caused by using top talent to perform time-intensive, non-core tasks in the software delivery lifecycle.
Meet the destination for DevOps ‘EasyButtons’: CTO.ai
CTO.ai’s Ops Platform serves as a secret weapon for both developers and businesses alike. It gives engineering teams the ability to access and share shortcuts that act as ‘EasyButtons’ for DevOps with a way to customize and automate repeatable tasks with ease. Using a registry of shortcuts, engineering teams can standardize devops workflows across their entire organization, a pain point that resonates with startups and large enterprises alike. As an example, junior devs with little training on Kubernetes can deploy a cluster in 15 minutes versus days, and tedious tasks like running reports can be reduced from 1,000 steps down to 10.
Features of CTO.ai’s community platform include:
- Open community contribution: Anyone can create and publish Ops to the platform, with the option to share them privately to their teams or publically for the developer community-at-large.
- Customizable workflows: Developers can create customizable workflows that adapt to their specific challenges by leveraging contributions from the community. Any individual developer can consistently make five others 2x more efficient, scaling the productivity of junior teammates 10x.
- Integration of popular services: The Ops Platform automates complex tasks and allows integration with some of the most frequently used services and cloud providers like AWS, Azure, Slack, GitHub, Kubernetes, and more without writing any lines of code.
“CTO.ai has been critical to our company’s evolving technology success,” said Karm Sumal co-founder and CEO of Daily Hive, the largest digital-only media publication in western Canada. “Their intelligence-driven developer operations approach helped our small development team to quickly deploy a scalable new infrastructure strategy that will help us easily serve over 15 million page views a month without having to hire full time DevOps onto our team.”
The company was founded in 2017 by Kyle Campbell, who previously served as the co-founder of Retsly, a developer platform which was acquired by Zillow in 2014. The Ops Platform by CTO.ai was designed as a product of Kyle’s first-hand experience working at scaling startups to help meet developer team needs. After bootstrapping the company and successful early adoption, Kyle has led the company to more than 400% revenue growth over the last 18 months, while growing employee headcount nearly 300% to 60 full-time staff.
“With the support we’ve received from a notable group of investors, we’re determined to accelerate our mission to enable $100B of developer productivity by 2030,” said Kyle Campbell, Founder & CEO of CTO.ai. “We believe that the success of a company is in the hands of their development teams, and automating important workflows can radically change the growth trajectory of every software company.”
CTO.ai is already being used by global customers including LionDesk and DailyHive among others. For more information on The Ops Platform or to sign up for beta access, please visit CTO.ai. To inquire about available job opportunities, please email press@cto.ai
