Dow a Finalist at Reuters Events Sustainable Business Inaugural Responsible Business Awards

Dow Recognized for its Business Transformation and Circular Innovation efforts

MIDLAND, Mich. – WEBWIRE

Dow (NYSE: DOW) announced today that it has been selected as a finalist for the business transformation and circular innovation categories at Reuters Events Sustainable Business Inaugural Responsible Business Awards 2020 – the world’s leading celebration of responsible business excellence.

This year’s awards spanned 13 categories, including UN Sustainable Development Goal impact, diversity & inclusion, business transformation, circular innovation and clean energy transition, and garnered more than 500 nominations from across the globe. Dow’s innovations to drive circularity as well as its progress in developing a sustainable business model for the future secured its spot as a finalist in the two awards categories.

“Dow’s ambition is to become the most sustainable materials science company in the world and earlier this year we announced new sustainability targets to “Protect the Climate” “Stop the Waste” and “Close the Loop,” said Diego Donoso, Dow president of Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. “It is an honor to be recognized by Reuters Events Responsible Business for this work, and we will continue to do our part to improve recycling and waste management technology, drive the circular economy and unlock the value of materials for reuse to create a more sustainable future together.”

Dow believes in plastics for a circular world and has collaborated with a global network to drive scalable solutions to the plastic waste challenge. This has resulted in several successful initiatives including the construction of polymer-modified asphalt roads with postconsumer recycled plastic and a partnership with Fuenix Ecogy Group in Europe to produce Dow polymers through a new feedstock made from recycled plastic waste. Additionally, Dow collaborated with Kellogg’s Kashi Bear Naked brand to roll out fully recyclable packaging, which was made possible with Dow’s RecycleReady Technology. Through technology, innovation and global partnerships, Dow is making a measurable impact and building a sustainable system to advance a circular economy around the world.

The eventual winners will be selected by a senior judging panel comprising Sally Uren, Chief Executive of Forum for the Future, Mike Barry, Director, Mikebarryeco Limited, Vicky Sin, Climate Benchmark Lead, World Benchmarking Alliance Mike Peirce, Corporate Partnership Director, The Climate Group ,James Gomme, Director SDGs, WBCSD and many more.

“Reuters Events Responsible Business over its years has made a major contribution in advancing the cause of more responsible and sustainable business models. It provides a unique, refreshing perspective and insights for the responsible business leaders.” Said Paul Polman, former CEO, Unilever

The Responsible Business Awards 2020 virtual ceremony will be taking place on 8-9 October, were it will bring together the most innovative, passionate and dedicated sustainability teams to enjoy the successes of our industry and celebrate the best and brightest among us. The winners will be announced on the night of the Awards. For more information, visit the website at https://events.ethicalcorp.com/awards/index.php
