Digital voice assistants, integrated transport systems, and the new Call a Bike 5.0 – Deutsche Bahn is showcasing a host of innovative mobility solutions at GREENTECH FESTIVAL
DB supports the international festival for a sustainable future • Focus on green, forward-looking technology • A look inside DB’s ideas generator for new digital customer offerings • planned investment of up to EUR 2 billion until 2024
What will the future’s innovative transportation systems look like? Why is digitalization ideal for boosting mobility? Starting September 16, Deutsche Bahn will be presenting answers to these questions at the GREENTECH FESTIVAL in Berlin. As a premium partner and exhibitor, DB will be opening up its ideas generator and presenting the latest technological innovations to an international audience. The exhibits include customer offerings that DB has already tried out, in addition to solutions that are still in the earliest stages and which DB is developing together with its business partners from the start-up scene. DB also wants to use its many technological advances to help protect our planet’s ecosystem and contribute to the company’s own green goals of transforming every aspect of its activities by the year 2050.
DB Management Board member Sabina Jeschke: "Deutsche Bahn is one of the world’s biggest names in transportation and logistics, and one of the leading forces in networked and sustainable mobility. We are focusing our attention on creating alternative drive systems and fuels as much as on our new digital customer offerings. In the coming four years, we will invest no less than EUR 2 billion in key digitalization projects that promise to deliver so much for customers and at the same time help us accelerate the decarbonization of transport"
SEMMI is just one of the tech projects that DB has selected for the GREENTECH FESTIVAL. Travelers will be able to use this AI-based voice digital voice assistant starting 2021. Taking the form of a digital service and avatar at stations, SEMMI will provide real-time information about connections and help people who have questions.
The world’s cleanest form of transport is also part of DB’s product family: The bicycle. Deutsche Bahn is one of the biggest bikesharing operators and has some 20 years of experience plus over 1 million customers. Visitors to the festival will get to see the newest addition to the company’s Call a Bike fleet. This prototype will showcase a new design in addition to a host of innovative and customer-friendly new features. One of them is the new smart lock that lets riders hire a bike simply and quickly by scanning a QR code with the app. Other changes include a great new LED display that shows information about hiring and returning the bike, a spacious new front basket for luggage, and a new secure cellphone holder for easy navigation by smartphone.
The DB stand will also present an image of future urban mobility in the form of DROMOS, an autonomous on-demand transportation system. The company is supporting the technology for DROMOS, small vehicles that can carry a maximum of two passengers. Thanks to the cars’ small size and technological features, this mobility concept has the potential to completely revolutionize how we move and travel in urban areas.
Intelligent simplicity is at the core of the Mobimeo mobility platform, whose development stage has now been completed. Mobimeo combines mass transit and sharing services in a single app. It shows travelers the fastest and cheapest mass transit connections, in addition to the best routes to their destinations.
With the Bonvoyo mobility budget, DB is presenting an alternative to the classic company car. With this new app, business and private trips can be booked and billed using different means of transport. Bonvoyo thus promotes the use of sustainable mobility offers.
GREENTECH FESTIVAL
The second GREENTECH FESTIVAL will be held at Kraftwerk Berlin on September 16-18, 2020, and Deutsche Bahn is one of the event’s premium partners. Showcasing green technology, products, and services, the festival is also a forum for ideas about sustainable lifestyles, a platform for exhibitors, and a site for many different kinds of discussions.
