The Official Selection 2020 at the Busan International Festival
After Deauville, San Sebastian, Lyon, and Rome, and before the Festival returns to the Croisette at the end of October, the films of the 2020 Official Selection are presented at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, the largest festival of its kind in Asia.
After touring European festivals throughout the autumn, the films in the Festival de Cannes Official Selection and Cannes Classics 2020 make a stopover in Asia. Twenty-four films from these selections are presented in South Korea, in Busan, from 21 to 30 October 2020.
Septet: The Story of Hong Kong by Ann Hui, Johnnie To, Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam, Sammo Hung, Yuen Woo-ping and Patrick Tam will be screened tonight at the Festival’s opening ceremony.
The Festival de Cannes is delighted with this collaboration and its presence in South Korea, a country whose film industry holds a major place on the Croisette. Gisaengchung (Parasite), by Bong Joon-ho won the Palme d’or at the 2019 Festival de Cannes, before triumphing at the Oscars ceremony.
