Pearson Media Group has been assisting independent writers in bringing their visions to life in the constantly changing standards of the film and television world. Their commitment to this work has propelled them to the top of the success ladder. And now they want to continue to take on new challenges and collaborate with the best cinematographers to bring praiseworthy works such as this one to film and television screens with John Keegan’s “Clearwater Summer.”

Clearwater Summer is a fascinating coming-of-age tale with a robust set and story that includes two ugly deaths and a climactic trial. The story recounts the beautifully observed tale of Wellesley Baker, a tomboy who was forced by her father to face the realities of an idyllic small town in the Pacific Northwest. This story is told in the first person by Will Bradford, the observant son of the town’s hardware store proprietor.

It’s the summer of 1959 and although Will and his pals Taylor Clark and Wellesley Baker have graduated from high school they temporarily fall into their childish habits of diving into the bottomless swimming hole in the river and other dares. But Wellesley’s father is the town’s stock-car racing hero, a burly rough-spoken man who is at once threatening and captivating when he is behind the wheel of his Pink Lady and Will is envious. While Will continues to work for his father at the town’s hardware store, which is failing because towns people want to buy everything on credit, their games escalate in risk…hopping the freight train, shooting wooden matches from their makeshift clothespin shooters and spying on Wellesley’s family dinner and being shocked at what they learn from standing on their bikes and gawking through the Baker’s kitchen window.

Their world crashes when Mr. Baker is found dead from a pistol shot in the kitchen. And Laddie Tilford, the deaf mute who constantly patrols the town on his bike is a witness.

“Clearwater Summer” is a story by John E. Keegan that will touch readers’ hearts and leave them wanting more. The book will indeed connect you with the characters’ increasing sense of responsibility and maturity as the story unfolds. In time, this story will make a name on the big screen.
