For avid readers of military action and science fiction, “A.M.P.D.: Artificial Military Prosthetics Division” (BookLogix; 2021) by Thomas Hraynyk makes a great next read.
“A.M.P.D.: Artificial Military Prosthetics Division” follows the trope of the military using dangerous technology. In the book’s case, a secret division of the U.S. military takes wounded elite soldiers, outfits them with weaponized prosthetics, and deploys them to fight a terrorist group.
“The idea of weaponized prosthetics seemed like a cool idea,” said Hraynyk in his interview by Fiona Mcvie of authorsinterviews.wordpress.com. “As I started putting ideas together, it seemed like the next major craze in pop culture would be cyborgs and I went with it. With a touch of zombie.
“With that said, I had ideas for some really cool characters and I built off of them. I have characters that I feel people can relate to and want to know more about. You can create cool characters with cool abilities and technology, but if they don’t have personality and something that draws you closer, then all they are is a window dressing.”
“A.M.P.D.: Artificial Military Prosthetics Division” has received favorable reviews from readers. K.C. Finn, in his review for Readers’ Favorite, said, “Author Thomas Hraynyk presents a gritty, action-packed exploration of what science may be able to do for the military and injured soldiers in the future, with both the benefits and the dire costs developed in an exciting, no-holds-barred narrative style.”
