Today, Future Family announced that it received a $25 million Series B growth investment. The round was led by Munich Re Ventures; additional backers include Triventures, MS&AD Ventures , ORIX, and existing investors Aspect Ventures, Mindset Ventures, at.inc/, and OurCrowd.

With this investment, Future Family will continue to expand its Buy Now Pay Later platform which uniquely includes a digital coaching layer to support its financing customers. The team is expanding its coaching team and growing a network of fertility clinics nationwide to support more families-to-be. Future Family was founded in 2016 by former SolarCity exec Claire Tomkins, who was inspired by her own fertility struggles to improve the experience for other people. After seeing 300% growth in Gross Transaction Volume (GTV) in 2021, Future Family is responding to the growing demand for its service.

“We’re thrilled to continue to advance access and support better outcomes in fertility through this latest round of funding,” said Claire Tomkins, CEO and Founder of Future Family. ”Going through fertility treatments is inherently an overwhelming process for people and one that needs financial innovation to better align costs with outcomes. Munich Re Ventures brings deep expertise in risk management products and a track record of supporting consumer-centric innovation to help us expand Future Family to those who need it most.”

Future Family is the only platform to streamline and customize the fertility financing process with an emphasis on client care and support. Future Family works to remove the major barriers many individuals face when trying to access fertility treatment, most notably, cost and complexity. Today more than half the consumers who visit a fertility clinic in pursuit of care and support, do not move forward with treatment – and those who do go through IVF and egg freezing processes typically pay for their treatment with a credit card, taking on high-interest rate debt and risking damage to their credit score.

“Uniquely positioned at the intersection of financial services, healthcare, and insurance, Future Family is transforming a sector that clearly requires disruption to address financial needs and help more individuals achieve their dreams of starting a family,” said Oshri Kaplan, Investment Director at Munich Re Ventures. “We are excited to support Future Family and help the company play an essential role in this rapidly growing industry, redefining what’s possible for individuals seeking fertility treatment.”

Kaplan will join Future Family’s board of directors with Michal Geva of Triventures, a fund focused on the intersection of healthcare with fintech, taking a Board Observer role. The two join a notable group of executives, including Lauren Kolodny of Acrew Ventures, Marqeta’s former CRO Omri Dahan, Montage Ventures’ Todd Kimmel and Levi King of Nav.
