Katonya Juene’ Hughey Publishes a Children’s Book Series Called the ‘Kenzie Chronicles’

“Kenzie’s Field Day Experience” will be displayed at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 23-24, 2022. Kenzie’s Field Day experience is designed to help students understand and appreciate differences. As the students prepare for Field Day, they quickly learn that not all their classmates enjoy this school tradition.

When the students realized that one of their classmates didn’t want to participate, they shared stories and worked together to create an inclusive plan to ensure that every student felt a sense of belonging and would enjoy participating in the year-end event. The book also supports teachers by including a lesson plan that is based on common core standards.

“The Kenzie Chronicles” is a realistic fiction book series that aims to convey a story that values diversity while also advocating and spreading a positive message. These lighthearted stories serve as a springboard for lively discussion and encourages readers to express their own thoughts and experiences.

Katonya is the creator, editor, and author of “The Kenzie Chronicles.” These elementary book series are designed to tell stories that highlight diversity while promoting and delivering a positive message. Her elementary realistic fiction books series includes “Kenzie’s Field Day Experience,” “A Tea Party for Kenzie” and “Kenzie Understands the Meaning of Mixed.”

She is also the author of the Reflections of You expressive writing journal series. She lives in the Nutmeg State, CT, and enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. Before she started writing children’s books, Katonya was an executive in corporate America, where she received her graduate degree in organizational leadership from Quinnipiac University.

She is currently a full-time consultant in the financial service industry and writes part-time. Her goal is to teach students how to appreciate differences and provide support to the teaching staff.
