Resolution Games Reports Record Company Growth and Player Revenue for FY2021
VR / AR games studio reveals numbers indicative of overall industry growth - including fifth consecutive year of profitability - and acquisition of Zenz VR

Resolution Games - the leading creator of virtual, augmented and mixed reality games including Demeo, Blaston and the upcoming futuresport Ultimechs - today announced a number of key milestones achieved in its 2021 fiscal year and beyond. The growth numbers reported, which include nearly 4x growth of B2C revenues and 3x total game downloads across all platforms for 2021 compared to the previous year, demonstrate a massive expansion of not only Resolution Games’ audience but the audience for the VR / AR / MR gaming industry at large.
Personnel & Office Growth
With 2021 being Resolution Games’ fifth consecutive year of profitability, the company reinvested the majority of that profit into growing its development capabilities, including continued personnel growth.
At the close of 2021, Resolution Games had 108 employees (a 55 percent increase from the previous year) and the growth of talent within the company has continued well into 2022. Today the company currently employs 158 workers, and its headcount is projected to surpass 200 by the end of the year.
As part of this growth, earlier this year the company expanded its operations in the United States with the formation of Resolution Games Inc., a subsidiary based in Austin, Texas aimed at tapping into the incredible pool of U.S. games industry talent. Under the direction of Resolution Games’ president and co-founder, Paul Brady, the subsidiary currently has eight employees with plans for expansion.
Talent Acquisition of Zenz VR + AR Division Momentum
Resolution Games has also revealed its recent acquisition of Stockholm-based Zenz VR. Best known as the studio behind the VR game HordeZ, this talent-focused acquisition helps strengthen the development of several projects currently underway at Resolution Games. Zenz VR’s existing and in-development IP were not included as part of the deal and will continue to be retained by its original creators.
Select members of the Zenz VR team have been absorbed into Resolution Games’ AR division (first announced in late 2021) to focus on the development of immersive experiences for the next generation of augmented and mixed reality hardware — including its founder Niklas Persson whose background as producer and designer on Battlefield 1942 will be particularly relevant in his new role at Resolution Games as he leads select upcoming projects for the studio. The AR division has already unveiled intriguing proof-of-concept projects with Meta and Qualcomm, helping to showcase what’s possible with Meta’s mixed reality Presence Platform and the Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform respectively.
