Delivering Better Access to Health Care with Walgreens and the White House

Uber and Walgreens announced a new partnership in conjunction with the White House to enable free prescription delivery of Paxlovid, an oral COVID-19 treatment, directly to the doorsteps of those in need.

The partnership, which will launch in the coming weeks, will provide the option for free delivery of Paxlovid for patients with a prescription who are in socially vulnerable or underserved communities, based on the CDC/ATSDR Social Vulnerability Index.

“As part of our continued efforts to help make sure no community is left behind, we are proud to partner with the White House and Walgreens to provide free delivery of Paxlovid to those most in need,” said Caitlin Donovan, General Manager of Uber Health. “This partnership is yet another way in which Uber’s technology can help Americans recover from the pandemic and make lifesaving healthcare more accessible.”

This initiative will span Walgreens’ network of stores across the United States. To effectively reach those in need, Uber and Walgreens will also amplify availability of this initiative through advocacy and community-based organizations, provider health systems, and national and regional payor organizations.

This new initiative builds on more than two years of collaboration between Uber Health and Walgreens, and is the latest effort we’re undertaking to help ensure that transportation is never a barrier to accessing the tools needed to fight COVID-19.

Last year, Uber partnered with the White House to provide free rides to vaccines nationwide, following up on our original commitment to enable 10 million free or discounted rides to vaccines.

We also previously partnered with Walgreens, PayPal, and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation to create the Vaccine Access Fund, which allowed anyone who uses Uber to donate money for rides to those in need of transportation to a vaccine appointment.
