A Tale of Struggle Every Law Enforcement Officer Faces

Baltimore, MD – WEBWIRE

Law enforcement entails the full force of the law to protect the people and officers. Many work in a position of public trust for the good of their community and do not subscribe to any evils associated with corruption and abuse of authority. Law enforcement officers confront danger and uncertainty every day. The sacrifices they make often go unnoticed, so it is important to recognize their efforts, especially in a tense situation like the current headlines around law enforcement violence. This same racism, prejudice and tension between blacks and whites was just as evident, if not worse, when this book takes place.

“Badges, Bullets, and Bars” is a brutally honest, raw, and gritty autobiography written by a veteran police officer. It covers the good, the bad, and the ugly from the perspective of a former Baltimore City Police officer. By telling his story, the author hopes to expose the true nature of these prejudices and rampant racism that was present and somewhat accepted. Shanahan demonstrates that not all cops are bad people seeking power over others.

This book delves more into the author’s thoughts and feelings, acquired firsthand by patrolling the highest crime ridden and deadliest area of Baltimore City. Also highlighting his abilities and struggles to overcome mental challenges. This allows readers to learn from his mistakes and achievements, as well as see his failures, determination and focus. It teaches that it is never too late to change your life for the better, no matter how many mistakes you have made in the past.
