Jim Hawk’s Adventure Novel Shines at East Coast Prestigious Library Conference

Jim Hawk’s adventure and religious novel, “And I Wanted To Be A Boat Bum”, was exhibited by self-publishing company ReadersMagnet at the New York Library Association (NYLA) 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show last November 3-4, 2022. Held at the Saratoga Springs City Center, New York, the NYLA 2022 event brought in a massive gathering of librarians, trustees, academics, writers, and readers, tagging the event as considerably the largest gathering for a library conference on the East Coast.

The NYLA 2022 Trade Show presented various programs, special events, and displays of the latest and most innovative products and services; all aimed at advancing the New York library community. Jim Hawk’s “And I Wanted To Be A Boat Bum” was part of the event’s book exhibition, shining alongside other prominent books on display.

“And I Wanted To Be A Boat Bum” tells the story of Gore Lyle, a six-foot-two-inch, two-hundred-pound ex-Green Beret, ex-cop, and an undercover SPUTF (Special Police Undercover Terrorism Force) agent. In his endeavor to leave behind his ruthless and deadly past and take on a new path as a devout Christian, Gore Lyle is beset by his former life of killing people and He gained wealth because of a run-in with the mob.

Losing his family was the last straw. Gore Lyle tried becoming a boat bum afterward to keep his past in check, but apparently, God has other plans for him.

Author Bio

Jim Haw is an electronics and computer engineer who retired from the Army Civil Service. His time with the army included working for the Army Security Agency, a now-defunct army super-secret three-letter agency. He also worked as a church administrator for ten years before retiring but remained a church elder. He loves exercising, having spent more than twelve years practicing Kenpo, Hapkido, Taekwondo, and boxing. He would tinker in the backyard as a mechanic in his spare time. He is currently writing Gore Lyle’s next adventure.
