Bobbie J. McLaren’s book display was enjoyed by readers at the LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience.
Self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet was able to show off the inspiring nonfiction book “The Sounds at River’s Edge: True Stories of Growing Up on the Intracoastal Waterway” by Bobbie J. McLaren at the 2023 LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience on January 27–30, 2023, at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA.
The world in “The Sounds at River’s Edge” is one where excitement may be found just a thought away from the reader, back before the invention of fast food, microwave ovens, and home films. In having a good time, the activities were more important than either location or budget.
If a child was punished by being instructed to “stay in the house,” they would likely choose to go outside and play instead. When kids are grounded, it’s standard practice to take away their access to electronics like TV and phones.
The stories in this collection show the unique relationship between a father and a child and the youngster’s unbounded imagination. Every day, despite the slower pace of life, history was being made as triumphs, tragedies, tears, and joy was shared by all. Adults can gain insight into the world of children by reading this book.
