Wiley and Mahidol University Sign Agreement to Advance Open Access in Thailand

Wiley, one of the world’s largest publishers and a global leader in scientific research and career-connected education, announced a new three-year open access agreement with Mahidol University in Thailand, beginning on January 1, 2023.

The agreement, which represents Wiley’s first in Thailand, provides reading access to Wiley’s journal portfolio and enables participating researchers to publish in Wiley’s complete portfolio of nearly 2,000 hybrid and gold open access journals, including those published by Hindawi. 

“Through this agreement, we are excited to help make research from Thai academics more widely available,” said Kathryn Sharples, Vice President, Open Research, Wiley. “Open access is a key component to enhancing scientific discovery, and I applaud Mahidol University for leading the way in Thailand.”

“Mahidol University has a policy of supporting research and publishing of staff’s academic work in internationally reliable databases. Wiley has quality journals indexed in databases recognized by scholars. Wiley’s transformational agreement proposal provided the university with a good opportunity to support researchers in publishing open access without worrying about the cost,” said Assistant Professor Nopphol Pausawasdi, Ph.D., of Mahidol University. “Coupled with Mahidol University’s research policy and strategies, this agreement can help to greatly enhance the quality and reach of the research published by the university.”

Wiley has strong momentum in advancing open access partnerships, having signed more than 75 agreements around the globe. This year alone, Wiley has established new agreements in India, Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, Türkiye, Canada, and the United States.
