Rev. Michael H. Lavery’s “Lucius: A Soldier’s Journey” was Exhibited at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books

Rev. Michael H. Lavery’s “Lucius: A Soldier’s Journey” was displayed at the 2023 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, held at the University of Southern California last April 22-23, 2023.

The book display at the annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books was made possible by the self-publishing and book marketing company, ReadersMagnet. ReadersMagnet was also responsible for Rev. Michael Lavery’s book to be exhibited at the 2023 London Book Fair last April 18-20, 2023. The company aims to share self-published authors’ works with the world.

“Lucius: A Soldier’s Journey” follows the title character, a Roman soldier who is loyal to a tyrant leader. He starts seeking the truth about the world and the political system to know which side is on the right. This goal surfaced after the passing of his father.

Lucius embarks on an adventure to find the truth and free the ones that are struggling from the slavery that is prevalent in their place. This adventure could lead him to the heart of the war or conflicting interests. Finding peace should resolve the issues that lurk in the kingdom. Will he ever find freedom for the people he wants to save?

Rev. Michael Lavery uses his story to convey the importance of weighing decisions and seeing through the actions of people. The story teaches about the influence of politics and how people are oppressed and deprived of their rights. This is also about one man’s quest for truth. He wonders if indeed it can be found. Then when he is reassigned to the nation Israel; he comes face to face with the one who is the personification of truth. Some call him the Teacher, other’s call him the Christ. Lucius comes to call him Savior, and Master. This is the true meaning of his journey. This discovery of truth, in hate one who is truth is indeed the real meaning of the book.

Rev. Michael Lavery is a graduate of Midwestern Baptist College, class of 79. In November of 79 he was voted in as Pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Maywood Illinois, where he currently still is a Pastor.
