The L.A. Festival of Books featured new sci-fi publications by a number of enthusiastic and ambitious authors. Among them is David W. Stewart. “…the modern look and feel of the cosmos was writ in the fabric of its earliest moments and carried relentlessly through time and space.” - Neil DeGrasse Tyson
During the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023, hundreds of eager readers visited the University of Southern California in Los Angeles to check out new publications in popular genres such as mystery, fantasy, science fiction, and more.
David W. Stewart is one of these veteran authors, having published several science fiction novels drawn from his own experience as a lead engineer on Atlas/Mercury, Saturn/Apollo, and several other space programs.
But for the L.A. Times Festival of Books, the main publication he decided to feature was a newly published novel titled “Angel of Mortality”. With the help of ReadersMagnet, a self-publishing and book marketing company, Stewart secured an exhibit spot for the novel.
“Angel of Mortality” is centered on a new, powerful technology known as the S.A.N.G (short for Serial A.I. Generator). The device is capable of creating incredible, wonder-working living machines known as Xenoborgs.
The S.A.N.G. was originally invented by a young, idealistic scientist Dr. Raisa Ilyushkin, who hoped that the Xenoborgs would herald advances that were only previously dreamed of.
Unfortunately, a man with darker dreams also has set his sights on the S.A.N.G. The criminal mastermind proceeds to steal away a copy and set in motion an apocalyptic scheme to wipe out a majority of the Earth’s population.
At the same time, the constant use of the Xenoborgs has caused them to grow and advance, developing personalities and even small societies. The confines of their programming have begun to strain from their increasing power. Will Raisa be able to intervene and prevent the technology from scouring the planet?
Readers at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2023 were certainly in for quite a ride finding out. David Witherington Stewart’s “Angel of Mortality” is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and ReadersMagnet Bookstore.
