Karen R. Blake is a woman entrepreneur, mother, and grateful Christian who had the wonderful privilege of raising a family so enthusiastic about sports. She’s had so many insightful moments with her family that she’s decided to write about the best ones and publish them in a book titled “Lessons from the Sidelines.” She even got the book an exhibit at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

However, one does not need to be a star athlete to share motivational stories that are simpler and packed with little nuggets of wisdom. The book by recently published author Karen R. Blake is one example.
In her book “Lessons from the Sidelines,” Blake introduces readers to life with a family passionately enthusiastic about sports.
Her husband Stephen gradually began signing up their kids for one sport activity after another. As the seasons passed, sports became a defining part of their family’s lifestyle. Their calendars were filled with game schedules, and her kids’ wardrobes were filled with uniforms.
During the times when she cheered her kids from the sidelines in countless Little League games, football matches, and more, Blake learned a lot of insightful lessons. These lessons would soon find themselves applying not just to her family life but also to her business and her faith.
Whether it’s taking initiative, helping people who are down, and having humility, her book shares a lot of memorable experiences that greatly demonstrated the simple universal truths of life. These days she still applies these truths in her work as head of a non-profit consulting firm as well as her service on various non-profit boards.
