6LACK and La La Anthony Entertain Guests at Amex Watch Party for 2023 BET Awards

American Express joined forces with BET, the home for Black entertainment, to celebrate the 2023 BET Awards ceremony, affectionately called “Culture’s Biggest Night” by the TV network. During the show, Amex hosted an official Watch Party in Los Angeles at the House of BET inside Hollywood’s Goya Studios.

The blue carpet was rolled out as guests arrived, buzzing with excitement as they eagerly awaited the start of the award show. Throughout the night, there were spontaneous moments of celebration as winners were announced, as friends and strangers alike enjoyed an evening of fun, camaraderie, and memorable moments.

The Amex Watch Party brought together musical artists and entertainers to celebrate Black creatives and immerse guests in Black culture. Hosted by actress and entrepreneur La La Anthony, the Watch Party also featured a special live musical performance from R&B artist 6LACK and DJ Earry Hall curated the soundtrack for the evening. Guests also explored the interactive installations at the House of BET and viewed the live broadcast of the BET Awards.

Before the show, 6LACK and La La Anthony talked to Amex about the awards, the event, and their impact – as well as how BET and Amex set up an epic experience.

Q: What makes the BET Awards ‘Culture’s Biggest Night’?

6LACK: It’s a combination of all the things we’ve grown to love and respect. This is my first big time involvement with the BET Awards. I grew up watching the show and now it’s a dream fulfilled.

LA LA: It’s a celebration of us. We get to celebrate our talent. We get to celebrate our culture, our music. Everyone comes together. There’s so much love. It’s a beautiful thing!

Q: How does the partnership between American Express and the BET Awards help amplify and celebrate Black creatives?

LA LA: It’s amazing to bring together two great entities like that. As an Amex card holder, I know it’s important to manage and be responsible for my money – something we work to amplify in the community. We’re trying to build generational wealth. I think the two coming together to amplify Black voices is an amazing partnership.

6LACK: I think it continues to give us a voice. Many of us do the work on our own to build a voice, but this propels us to another level!

Q: Describe the American Express and BET Awards Watch Party in a few words.

6LACK: This is what you make it!

LA LA: In three letters, “LIT!” We’re already having fun and it’s just getting started.
