ERM publishes annual Sustainability Report showcasing performance and impact
ERM, the world’s largest pure play sustainability consultancy, has published its annual Sustainability Report, which sets out how the company is delivering on its purpose of shaping a sustainable future with the world’s leading organizations.
The report reveals how ERM, in collaboration with its clients and partners, is increasing its impact globally across the climate, nature and social challenges facing society. FY23 achievements include contributing to the installation of over 160 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity (equivalent to the annual carbon emissions of 36 million+ US households), remediating 279 hectares of land for beneficial use increasing project sales aligned to helping clients transition to a lower-carbon economy by 34% on the previous year and helping to develop the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality’s (BCTI) flagship report.
Tom Reichert, ERM Group CEO, said: “We know that the greatest impact we can have on the world is through the work we do for our clients.
“Many organizations have now made commitments, set targets and communicated their sustainability strategies. But that’s when the hard work really starts. And that’s where ERM is ideally placed to help companies operationalize sustainability at pace and scale, through our unique combination of strategic transformation and technical delivery capabilities.
“We are proud of the achievements set out in this report, which are testament to the passion and talents of our people. We must continue to harness their skills and the wider capabilities of the sustainability ecosystem to accelerate progress against the world’s sustainability challenges. The time to shape a more sustainable future is now.”
ERM’s growth strategy during FY23 featured a number of acquisitions to enhance its capabilities and scale its impact. These included NINT, a Latin-America based consultancy providing sustainable finance and ESG advisory services; Coho, a global advisory firm with deep expertise in helping organizations reach their climate, renewable energy and water resiliency goals; and marine planning and environmental consultancy MarineSpace.

ERM’s Sustainability Report outlines how the company remains on track to meet its science-based targets and achieve operational net-zero by 2025. The company also published its Biodiversity Policy last year, setting out its commitment to the protection and restoration of biodiversity across ERM’s own operations, its client engagements and its partnerships, including the ERM Foundation.
ERM’s broader efforts to tackle sustainability challenges during FY23 included joining the Make it Mandatory campaign at the United Nations Biodiversity Conference of the Parties (COP15), supporting the pilot for the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework and co-authoring the C-Suite Guide to Voluntary Carbon Markets with Natural Climate Solutions Alliance.
