Editors Best Article Award Announced for Health Data Marketplace Using Blockchain Technologies
Blockchain Journal Announces Annual Editors Best Research Article Award
Blockchain in Healthcare Today (BHTY), a leading publication in DLT and innovation in healthcare is delighted to announce the recipient of the prestigious BHTY Annual Editors’ Best Article Award. The distinguished honor has been awarded to Mohamed Maher and Imtiaz Khan, of Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, for their outstanding research article titled “From Sharing to Selling: Challenges and Opportunities of Establishing a Digital Health Data Marketplace Using Blockchain Technologies,” published in Volume 5, 2022.
Maher and Khan’s article explores the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health data sharing, highlighting the underutilization of valuable biological and biomedical data, despite the widespread use of electronic health records (EHR) and wearable digital devices. The authors shed light on the legislative constraints, traditional siloed data management systems, and the lack of Incentivization models that hinder the efficient sharing of health data, proposing a paradigm shift in data sharing. Authors advocate for the creation of a digital health data marketplace (DHDM) that leverages financial Incentivization to promote widespread sharing and utilization of health data. Additionally, they analyze the legal considerations within the European Union and other countries, and investigate the socioeconomic impact of the DHDM on stakeholders in the short, medium, and long terms.
“We are honoured to receive the BHTY Editors’ Best Article Award for our research on Digital Health Data Marketplace using Blockchain technologies. The marketplace ushers in a novel era of knowledge co-creation, achieved through enhanced patient engagement and empowerment. This paradigm shift embraces the principles of democratisation and commercialisation of health data, enabling a collaborative and inclusive approach to advancing healthcare,” stated lead author, Mohamed Maher.
The BHTY Editors’ Best Article Award recognizes the exceptional impact and scholarly contributions the groundbreaking research has garnered demonstrated by article views, downloads, citations, and market impact within the industry. The article’s remarkable performance in each of these areas showcases its profound influence and recognition among peers and experts.
BHTY takes pride in publishing this outstanding work, which has enriched the scholarly discourse on digital health data and blockchain technologies. The article exemplifies the journal’s commitment to promoting cutting-edge research and advancing the field.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mohamed Maher and Imtiaz Khan on receiving BHTY’s Annual Editors’ Best Article Award. Their exceptional research exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship and serves as an inspiration to the academic and professional community.
