TCM sponsors the TCM Youth Award at San Sebastian Festival’s 71th edition
For the fifh year running, TCM promotes this award turning the spotlight on the young promises of cinema in the New Directors and Horizontes Latinos sections
For the fifth year running, TCM will sponsor the Youth Award at the coming edition of the San Sebastian Festival, to take place from September 22-30.
The jury deciding the award is made up of 150 young people, between the ages of 18 and 25, who will watch and award points to each film after its screening. The qualifications and ranking of favourites is updated daily and can be followed in the Festival’s official media.
The movies competing for the TCM Youth Award are all those screening in the New Directors section and the first or second features by filmmakers presenting their works in Horizontes Latinos. The number of titles exceeds twenty, meaning that the members of the jury undertake to watch between two and three films a day.
The award will be presented on Saturday September 30, with the presence of a representative of TCM in Spain, together with a celebrity from the movie world and a member of the youth jury to be announced while the Festival is underway.
Bibiana González, Programme Director for Warner Bros. Discovery’s General Entertainment Channels in Spain, said: “We are very pleased to collaborate once again with this festival, which looks to the future with its selection of the best recent national and international productions, while at the same time highlights the best cinema in history. That is why in this edition, in which TCM commemorates together with Warner Bros. the centenary of the studio, we celebrate that these young talents approach this festival that opens its doors to them with a fresh look and that, at the same time, they can see in TCM a brand that cares for and loves the film legacy from which we drink today. The San Sebastian TCM Youth Award is the best symbol of these values”.
TCM has been sponsoring the Youth Award since 2019. Up and running in Spain for more than two decades, the TV channel has close ties with the San Sebastian Festival. For several editions it sponsored the Audience Award, special seasons and the Zinemaldia Get-togethers.
